A SUMMER OF FREE OUTDOOR EVENTS — KULTURSOMMERFESTIVAL BERLIN STARTS THIS WEEKEND

We all want to make the most of the summer. Luckily, Kultursommerfestival Berlin is here to bring culture to the city’s best outdoor spots, whether it’s by the water, in the park, in town or surrounded by historic buildings. Organized by Kulturprojekte Berlin, the three-month cultural program brings together 90 Berlin cultural institutions, venues, projects and partners. Events include the annual Fête de la Musique, productions and performances from Theaterdiscounter, HAU and festivals such as 48 Stunden Neukölln, Classic Open Air, CSD and more. The line-up also includes special summer events like open-air concerts, readings by the lido, an adventure day at the zoo, ballet on a boat and stargazing in the park. As for the venues, they’re as diverse as the events themselves: from the glamorous Friedrichstadt-Palast and the venerable Volksbühne to the Orankesee lido, municipal galleries, state museums and the city library.

Kicking things off is an open-air evening on 18.06.2022 at Tempelhof Airport which will see the historic airfield transformed into Berlin’s largest terrace bar. Assemble your favorite people, grab a deckchair and some cool drinks and let live musicians entertain you. At sunset you will be treated to a spectacular light and music performance from Compagnie Off from France, who are performing for the first time in Germany. Admission is free all evening (you can reserve your spot online). From then on until September, 90 events at 90 venues all over Berlin await you – all free, all outdoors.
