Ready for a taste-based journey across the Indonesian archipelago? Let art and culinary collective Soydivision take you there. We have previously featured their Soy&Synth series of pop-up dinner-concerts, and since the lockdown the team – assembled by Bandung-born Ariel William Orah – have taken their food-art mashup online, with a weekly takeaway dinner series, web mag Soy&Zine and an online edition of Soy&Synth streaming this Saturday (30.05.2020) from 19h. Food wise, each week explores a different region of Indonesia, with a menu featuring two Nasi Campur options (white rice with a selection of side dishes) including a vegan choice. From tempeh in Manado spices (bruised lemongrass, lemon basil) to steamed tofu, smoked jackfruit and Karadok (West Java vegetable salad with peanut sauce), this is takeaway food with a lot of surprises. If you just want to sample the Indonesian basics, you can also order à la carte classics including beef rendang and homemade Sambal with stinky beans. For sounds and visuals to match the flavors, check out Soydivision’s YouTube channel, and for the latest menu and upcoming events see Instagram. This is a long-haul voyage we can get into.
