CONTEMPORARY ART AT THE FORMER KINDL BREWERY

CONTEMPORARY ART AT THE FORMER KINDL BREWERY

The Neukölln-based Kindl brewery had been vacant for years. Now, contemporary art is moving in and the former beer factory is being reborn. Burkhard Varnholt and Salome Grisard have opened the first part of the house here in Rollberg Kiez. Where once boilers emitted steam, art exhibitions will be shown in the future. For the grand opening, they will be showcasing a piece that was created for the museum; Swiss-born artist Roman Signer has installed an upside down airplane in the 20 meter high space. But the building hasn’t lost its former purpose. Rollberger beer is still being brewed next door, so you get a drift of hop aroma from time to time. (Text: Laura Storfner)
