WHOLEY GOOD MOOD POP-UP: BERLIN START-UPS FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY

WHOLEY GOOD MOOD POP-UP: BERLIN START-UPS FOR POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY

January is almost over and with it the Vegan Food Challenge. As with many ambitious resolutions (more exercise, work-life balance, sustainable living), this is usually the end of the road. They rarely make it beyond the first few weeks of the year. Berlin start-up Wholey makes sticking to veganism a lot easier. They have set themselves the task of revolutionizing the breakfast game with organic plant-based products, focusing on long-term lifestyle changes. And they’re inviting you to Wholey headquarters in Berlin-Wedding this Saturday (27.01.2024), where they’ll be hosting the very first Good Mood Pop-Up, to help bring you closer to positive change and a healthier lifestyle. Together with innovative Berlin brands such as MondarellaVlyMamma NaturKarl & KarloBettaF!shKombucheryKruutReoat and Ylumi, the motto is: using purely plant-based ingredients does not mean food has to be boring or compromise on flavor! We’ve been lucky enough to try some of the products ahead of the event, and we can confirm they’re innovative, packed beautifully and taste delicious. You can try the products for yourself, ask questions and learn how you can be part of the positive change at the pop-up. And Berlin wouldn’t be Berlin if there wasn’t music to set the (good) mood, right? A live DJ set will create the right atmosphere throughout the day. Participation is free — so there’s no excuse not to stick to your resolutions throughout the year.

KROM BAR — SIGNATURE COCKTAILS & GEMÜTLICHKEIT IM WINSVIERTEL

KROM BAR — SIGNATURE COCKTAILS & GEMÜTLICHKEIT IM WINSVIERTEL

For me, Krom Bar is an unmistakable place – one with a lot of charm. This bar invites you to linger and is perfect for an evening with friends, an after-work drink, a first date, or a quiet night alone—for a glass of natural wine at the bar and a chat with the people behind it. What sets Krom Bar apart is the cozy atmosphere; it’s very relaxing here, almost romantic. The menu is special, especially the cocktails. Alongside classics, there are exciting signatures to try, such as the “Gin Garden” or “Earl Grey Gimlet.” In addition to the seven signature cocktails on the main menu, three cocktails change every two weeks. My highlight: the “Cream Soda” – a drink that, as the name suggests, has a bit of retro charm and reminds me of times gone by. It comes with the obligatory house nut mix—my absolute snack highlight—and the friendly company at Krom Bar. What more do you need for a successful bar evening?

SUSANNE KAUFMANN HAS A GOODIE FOR BERLIN: A POP-UP STORE FOR THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

SUSANNE KAUFMANN HAS A GOODIE FOR BERLIN: A POP-UP STORE FOR THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Alpine landscapes instead of icy Berlin avenues? I would beam myself to the Bregenzerwald in a heartbeat — to the home of Susanne Kaufmann and the birthplace of the skincare brand bearing her name. Back then, the products, housed in minimalist packaging with white labels and red lettering, lit up the eyes of beauty editors and their skin alike. Twenty years later, nothing has changed. Susanne Kaufmann has stayed true to her vision of a skincare brand focused on a select few high-quality ingredients. Even from the outset, the emphasis was on oil-based products. Over time, the product design has become even more minimalist, but the range has expanded. Susanne Kaufmann now offers a comprehensive beauty line, spanning bath and shower products to facial care sets. My favorites include the “Moisturizing Face Gel for Hypersensitive Skin” and the matching body lotion in a glass pump dispenser. And, of course, the mountain pine bath oil is a classic—especially welcome in winter.

Despite 20 years of success, Susanne Kaufmann remains active and is now introducing a new facial oil. It is available for exclusive advance purchase at Berlin’s KaDeWe department store. Chosen as a long-standing partner store, KaDeWe hosts the entire pop-up store experience. At Ku’damm, visitors can immerse themselves in the alpine world through large video installations, soundscapes, and fragrances. But it’s not just about looking and smelling; a bit of wellness is a must. Beauty experts are on hand to offer hand or arm massages, along with tips on skincare routines. For those seeking a momentary escape to other realms, the “Holistic Facial Treatment” in one of the treatment rooms is a delightful way to close your eyes and dream of the Bregenzerwald.

THE NEW THE MAP GALLERY OPENS WITH THE EXHIBITION “MELANCHOLIA” — RECOMMENDED BY ANAÏS RÖSCHKE

THE NEW THE MAP GALLERY OPENS WITH THE EXHIBITION “MELANCHOLIA” — RECOMMENDED BY ANAÏS RÖSCHKE

We’ve waited a long time for the opening of The Map Gallery, and now the moment has finally arrived. Why? It’s simple: when Mon Muellerschoen, Andrea von Goetz, and Peter Buchberger join forces, surprises are bound to happen. Exciting contemporary art pieces will now grace the walls between design masterpieces on Linienstraße. Renowned artists like Elisa Breyer, Philipp Fürhofer, Kura Kazunori, Magda Kracewicz, Anton Peitersen, Maria von Thurn und Taxis, Vincent Vandaele, Jorinde Voigt, and Björn Wallbaum Weltbrandt are among those featured. The inaugural exhibition brings together works exploring the theme of melancholy. Why melancholy in January? In Berlin? A time when the sun hides behind a gray sky, and cold days flood our insides with intensity, albeit brief, like a tsunami. What would the world be without darkness, doubt, and sadness? Artists uniquely transform these emotions into energy, creativity, and glimpses of the future. Drop by, let yourself be surprised, and discover works, objects, and furniture capable of embracing darkness throughout the year.

Anaïs Röschke, with a background in the art world, oversees the program at Laufen Space Berlin and executes various formats for the architecture and construction industry through her agency, The Art of Business.

SPOILER X ZEBU X CEE CEE CAFE — ART OPENING NUMERO 2

SPOILER X ZEBU X CEE CEE CAFE — ART OPENING NUMERO 2

Colorful, humorous, and a little funky — the artist duo Zebu will showcase one of their large-format hand-tufted tapestries from the “Schnittmenge” series in a solo exhibition at the Cee Cee Cafe starting this Friday (19.01.2024). Collaborating since 2015, Lynn Lehmann and Dennis Gärtner’s artistic repertoire includes illustrations, graphic design, and paintings— manifested as prints, expansive murals, or tapestries. The art opening has been curated by Spoiler Aktionsraum. Housed in a former car dealership in Moabit, this curator collective consistently brings forth diverse artistic formats. If you wish to be part of it, feel free to drop by. The event kicks off at 18h with beer and wine provided!
