Last week I was complaining about the lack of cafés in Neukölln beyond Weichselstrasse, but here’s a new and welcome addition: Barini. Located in the heart of lovely Rixdorf, this minimalist café is a friendly place from morning till evening. The two owners are of Turkish and Italian decent and that’s how the menu is composed too: you’ll find çay (Turkish tea) next to cappucino, flatbreads to paninis and ingredients like sucuk and roasted peppers next to risotto and polenta. The food is freshly and nicely prepared, the service is relaxed and friendly, there’s pleasant music inside and on nice days their outdoor dining space offers sunny spots. So there’s plenty of reasons to return to Barini for me, which has already become one of my favorite Neukölln places. By the way, there will be an opening celebration this Saturday with music, food and surprises.
