The town of Grasse in southern France is the setting for Patrick Süskind’s book Perfume and is known as the world capital of fragrance – it’s also where Berlin-based Atelier Oblique’s perfumes are developed. Bohemian Woods, Marble Sea and Voodoo Flowers are the dreamy titles of the scents created by label founder Mario Lombardo in collaboration with up and coming Parisian perfumer Serge de Oliveira. Each perfume combines aromas for base-, middle- and top notes: the Bohemian Woods for example features red pepper, saffron and incense, while White Light blends fig, orange blossom and jasmine. Fragrances have a very special meaning for Mario, bringing back memories of his native Argentina, which he had to leave when he was five. This experience led him to develop another product called the Alphabet Collection, a range of 27 scented candles, each combining a letter of the alphabet with a unique olfactory bouquet.
