ROSA CANINA: FINEST HOMEMADE AND ORGANIC ICE CREAM

ROSA CANINA: FINEST HOMEMADE AND ORGANIC ICE CREAM

There are only two types of ice cream lovers in this world: those who prefer the classics such as vanilla, stracciatella or lemon and those who almost get a sense of wanderlust when ordering exotica such as pineapple-sage or white chocolate ginger. Both types are very welcome at Prenzlauer Berg’s Rosa Canina ice cream parlor. My quality control question: does the vanilla ice cream taste pure and authentic, and nothing but vanilla? Yes was the answer in this case: a mix of pure Tahitian and bourbon vanilla plus fresh organic milk and cream offering a lush and luxurious vanilla experience. Mmmmmm… Their popular raspberry-basil, black sesame or – a true novelty – vanilla pumpkin seed oil ice cream will satisfy your culinary short trip. Whatever you opt for, rest assured everything is made from the finest organic ingredients sans anything artificial. This place will surely keep everyone happy! ANNE POSTRACH RECOMMENDS: PARKHAUS

ANNE POSTRACH RECOMMENDS: PARKHAUS

I have exactly one hour per week to visit Parkhaus on Schröderstrasse — Saturdays from 6 to 7 o’clock in the evening. Any other day of the week, the opening hours of my store’s and Parkhaus’ overlap, so the anticipation already starts building on Monday. Parkhaus translates to “parking garage” in English, but it doesn’t matter that I don’t own a car. In between these beautiful decorations, interior products and objects du désir, I feel perfectly at home. Surrounded bydark grey walls, in the middle of old and new pieces of furniture, perfectly arranged candles, comfy pillows, lamp shades, books, flowers and bed linens, I feel so comfortable that I must resist the temptation to take my shoes off. I guess it wouldn’t be a problem though, since the shop’s staff are truly relaxed; they are the key to the cozy atmosphere here. Speaking of coziness: if Bertoia Diamond Chair or the likes ever printed crisscross patterns on your back, Parkhaus offers comfy felt cushions for designer chairs too.

RELAX YOURSELF WITH THAI YOGA THERAPY BY NICOLAS RENARD

RELAX YOURSELF WITH THAI YOGA THERAPY BY NICOLAS RENARD

He was once one of us: tense and out of balance due to too much work sitting in front of a computer. Then Nicolas Renard decided to try a Thai Yoga massage. It worked so well that it convinced him to change his life. Subsequently, the Frenchman decided to attended the renowned Palm Lotus school in Montreal – his hometown before settling in Berlin in 2013 – and learn this special technique. In comparison to the classical Thai massage created to cure the problems caused by physical labor, the Yoga Thai Massage is a version adapted to the needs of city dwellers merely performing brain work. Where classical treatments, as far as I know, work primarily on your body, Nicolas’ approach is very intuitive as he palms and thumbs along the body’s energy lines and adds pressure while lifting, pulling and rotating your limbs. Some of these movements will seem familiar to you, if you do yoga. He also offers advice on adapting your food habits to match your body type according to Ayurveda as well as personalized programs for home workouts. Booking an appointment with him sounds like the best end-of-the-week investment for me for right now. Companies are welcome to call him for in-house services too.
