FROM CRANBERRY KETCHUP TO CSD — CC’S WEEKEND CALENDAR

FROM CRANBERRY KETCHUP TO CSD — CC’S WEEKEND CALENDAR

Between bagels and CSD, fashion sales and picnic performances, the city is full of places to sit, eat, watch, and take part. The bed sheet — an underrated piece of fabric. Once a childhood hiding place and Halloween costume, now a material with runway potential. Dutch label Martan turns discarded hotel linen into sculptural silhouettes. Their pieces have already made it to Cannes and the Berlinale, and now Kastanienallee. The Midsummer Sale (23.–26.07.) offers a chance to browse current looks, rare archive pieces, and one-off show creations. This Friday (25.07.), there’s another kind of fabric on display: the picnic blanket. With PicazzaUncommon and Anne Bollinger transform Studio Hanniball into an Italian marketplace, complete with sparkling drinks from Bouche, a performance by food artist Chelsea Turowsky, and a piazza-like installation you can sit and snack on. The pop-up continues through July.

Also, a good place to sit: on a terrace, ideally with wine and a bagel. This Saturday (26.07.), 8000 Vintages and Bagel Broteam up for a casual afternoon of Georgian wines and loaded bagels — no reservation required. Or stop by Horváth on Paul-Lincke-Ufer, where Fetzn is serving their signature Japanese-style schnitzel sandos: fluffy milk bread, cranberry ketchup, melted mountain cheese. For vegetarians, there’s soft-serve and white wine spritzers. And if you want to sit down for something more political, Saturday (26.07.) is CSD. The motto: Never be silent again. Marching, dancing, standing up for each other — if Berlin is the city of openness we claim it to be, now’s the time to show it. For a quieter vantage point, Blush Berlin invites you to the rooftop of HKW for a community brunch and open-air party with music by Natalia EscobarKenza, and more. Ice cream and cold-pressed oils from Oil You Love, brunch by Sathutu. Tickets are limited, so be quick. Looking ahead to next week? Starting Thursday (31.07.), chef Grace Donley brings her pop-up to Le Petit Royal. Having cooked at Remi, Barra, and Otto, she presents a seasonal à la carte menu where oysters meet gooseberries, pistachio flirts with morel, and fig is never far. With wines from Weinhandlung Suff. Best shared between two or three.

CROISSANT SESSION NO.02: CROISSANTS, CLUB-VIBES & COLD MATCHA ON SATURDAY MORNING AT MATCHASOME

CROISSANT SESSION NO.02: CROISSANTS, CLUB-VIBES & COLD MATCHA ON SATURDAY MORNING AT MATCHASOME

We don’t know about you, but Saturday mornings deserve more attention. And because we not only like to share tips, but also create them, our event series is entering the next round. Croissant Session No. 02 is coming up. After the successful launch event in June 2025 with Isla Coffee and Refuge Worldwide, we’re inviting you to the second daytime party with MatchasomeWomen Authors of Achievement, and Coffee Week Berlin. With everything you need for a good start to the weekend: funky beats, nice people, cool drinks, and fresh croissants. Dancing, snacking, sipping: The soundtrack will be provided by DJ krizzi with the k!, who delivers feel-good hip-hop and R’n’B. The Matchasome team will be mixing a Matcha Orange Juice special created especially for the day — ice-cold, refreshing, and at a good price. And yes, of course, there will be croissants — the mini version with Matcha filling of The Sanctuary is on the house for early birds, first come, first served. And there will be specials on the menu for latecomers. If you like buttery croissants, refreshing matcha drinks, great company, and a club vibe with no entry fee, this is the right place on Saturday morning. See you on the café’s dance floor!

MINA SEES RED: PIZZA, PASTA & FASHION AT THE 032C RESIDENCY ON THE SPREE

MINA SEES RED: PIZZA, PASTA & FASHION AT THE 032C RESIDENCY ON THE SPREE

Directly on the Spree, hidden behind the East Side Gallery, lies Mina — a hideaway for Italian-Levantine cuisine with a guaranteed beautiful sunset. The team’s second location behind Mine in Charlottenburg combines Italian classics with Levantine influences, including four types of hummus, creamy muhammara, and smoky babaganoush (at Mina, it’s all about the dips). These are joined by classic mezze and warm dishes: pasta with saffron and pizza with pomegranate seeds, okra, feta, and pistachios. Familiar dishes are rethought and combined in surprising but harmonious ways. Those who prefer classic Italian dishes will also get their money’s worth: fritto misto, Sicilian-style octopus, spaghetti vongole — the list is long. For summer 2025, owner Misha Mnatsakanov, together with Maria and Joerg Koch, founders of the iconic media and fashion brand 032c, came up with something special. Mina has been hosting the first 032c Summer Residency since July 1, 2025. For several weeks, the fashion world has moved into the restaurant — visually, culinarily, and conceptually.

The interior hints at the residency as soon as you enter: posters adorn the walls, white and red plates with 032c lettering (I want!), and of course, the extra menu card. Because yes, the kitchen is serving an exclusive menu that Misha, Maria, and Joerg have designed for the residency. A truffle burger with pommes pailles, black ravioli with crab and caviar, and to finish, a raspberry Campari sorbet and pavlova in bright 032c red? If you want pizza, you’ll find Pizza Rosso on the menu, or take a look at the regular Mina menu, as you can order from both during the residency. There are also exclusive 032c cocktails such as the Raspberry Bellini and Bloody Mary. The worlds of gastronomy and fashion come together not only on the plate, but also at curated events that enrich Berlin’s cultural calendar and the banks of the Spree in equal measure. A place that shows how good collaboration can taste.

BRAZILIAN MOVEMENTS: THE MIUDINHO FESTIVAL FOR FORRÓ DANCE AT THE MALZFABRIK

BRAZILIAN MOVEMENTS: THE MIUDINHO FESTIVAL FOR FORRÓ DANCE AT THE MALZFABRIK

No plane ticket to Brazil? Never mind, it’s winter there anyway. Instead, head to the Malzfabrik to party and dance to Brazilian sounds with like-minded people, namely Forró at the Miudinho Festival. Never heard of Forró? I didn’t either, but now I’m hooked — admittedly also a little biased, because Clara Citaristi, who hosts the event with her Brazilian partner Ayo Barbosa, is part of our Cee Cee Creative agency team. Together, the couple have given their passion for Forró a platform in the form of a dance festival (8.-10.08.2025). This year is the festival’s fourth edition. Forró fans from all over the world will come together to move and celebrate. And, as I’ve been told, once you’ve stepped into the circle of dancers, you’ll never want to leave. Forró is a Brazilian couple’s dance that is both light-footed and grounded, playful and meaningful. You don’t need prior experience to join, just curiosity and comfortable shoes (and a pinch of courage to try something new). During the day, there will be workshops (also for beginners), and in the evening, it’s time to hit the dance floor with bands from Brazil, Europe, and the rest of the world. In between dance sessions, there’ll be food, conversation, music in the courtyard, and perhaps a spontaneous Forró in the open air? Miudinho doesn’t feel like a festival with a ticket and a timetable, but more like a weekend with friends, who happen to be excellent dancers. Or at least willing to learn…

GREEN, BLUE, COLORFUL — CC CALENDAR TIPS BETWEEN MATCHA, CYANOTOPIA & ART QUARTERS

GREEN, BLUE, COLORFUL — CC CALENDAR TIPS BETWEEN MATCHA, CYANOTOPIA & ART QUARTERS

Berlin brands, small collectives (and their closets) reveal everything that fits between a soy paste steak sandwich and blue printing techniques this weekend. Here are our CC Calendar tips for this weekend. Friday afternoon (18.07.) in Schöneberg, Two Gather and Perhaps are meeting at Café Tonton for a special culinary after-work date. “All Good Things” is the name of the pop-up, and the name says it all. They serve sandwiches from Seoul, Yakgwa cinnamon cookies, and an oolong apricot fizz that tastes like a vacation in a glass. It’s worth coming early! If you’re strolling through Mitte in the next few days and have a flair for fashion, plan a stopover in Linienstraße. The sample sale by A Kind Of Guise is returning and will be back for the whole weekend (18.-20.07.2025). The Munich label has the finest textiles and patterns with history — wearable craftsmanship, if you will. Discover a colorful range of their classics and favorite pieces on site. And while we’re on the subject of special pieces, on Saturday (19.07.), it’s worth taking a look at Summer Kiosk‘s colorful assortment. There, Rayas will be presenting her latest basket models, perfect for a visit to the market or simply functional eye candy. Tie and hang your personal pearl necklace on the spot. Cute! Friends of the house, such as Helka CeramicsLuce and Italo Feelings, will also be there. Kasuteira will provide matcha creations, drinkable or as sweet desserts. Meeting point: Klub Maison. But back to the closets.

If you’re looking for fashion with personality, the first Closet Sale at Soap Shop is the place for you. On Saturday (19.07.) there’ll be a collective clear-out. Five fashion muses from Berlin, including FiyoriKicki Yang Zhang and Ruby Howes, will take over the vintage store in Muskauer Straße: special items, favorite basics, and their fashion visions to try on, take home, and be inspired by. From Saturday (19-20 July), Panke Open Studios will bring together three key studio locations: the Uferhallen, the Gerichtshöfe, and the Atelierhaus Chausseestraße 48. For two days, the quarter along the Panke will become a stage, and a place for dialogue, with open studios, insights into artistic processes, and creative exchange between the neighborhood and artists. The result is a multifaceted event and a lively cultural trail through Berlin waiting to be discovered. For an artistic end to the weekend, get out of the city and into the blue. Berlin Blueprints invites you to a cyanotype workshop on Sunday (20.07.) at the Wehrmühle Biesenthal. A technique that is as wonderfully simple as it is fascinating, using the power of the sun. The afternoon of printing will be led by Anna Falck-Ytter, otherwise known as one of the creative communication minds at KW. She prints whatever the enchanted garden around the Wehrmühle has to offer: blossoms, twigs, and other found objects. If you’re still unsure about your choice of colors for the weekend, Berlin offers the whole palette, maybe you don’t have to decide.
