WINTER WARMTH — CC’S CALENDAR TIPS BETWEEN OPEN STUDIOS, WORKSHOPS & CHRISTMAS BEER

WINTER WARMTH — CC’S CALENDAR TIPS BETWEEN OPEN STUDIOS, WORKSHOPS & CHRISTMAS BEER

For anyone feeling a chill in the late-summer-like temperatures, here’s your chance to help warm up a bit. This weekend, the mulled wine clouds are gathering, along with opportunities to find your last gifts of the season. At Atelier Gardens, creative warmth is overflowing. The Winter Market takes over the entire campus, with open studios, screenings, performances, and hands-on activities. Visitors can dive into mushroom cultivation, mix natural dyes, listen to choirs, and get crafting (don’t let the Christmas card go extinct!). Pre-registration is required. Even more buzz at Moritzplatz. The Aufbau Haus invites you to its Bazaar, a winter weekend (12–13.12.2025) of open studios, design treasures, and creative minds. On the city terrace, find Süper StoreHallo Keramik, and Zelt Berlin, plus guests like Ahrens Ahrens and Rud Atelier. Inside, illustrator Elisabeth Moch draws live, the Moritzplatz bookstore hosts Heike Faller for a reading (cookies included), and at Modulor, you can try your hand at brush lettering. Next stop: Modus in Charlottenburg. Here, furnishing is a statement and a conscious choice for quality and material. Their Saturday pop-up (13.12.) turns the showroom into a small Advent refuge filled with Berlin-based manufacturers. Among colorful woven baskets, architectural jewelry, and ceramics, the best part is meeting the designers in person, and, of course, soaking up the festive spirit. For those seeking gifts consisting of art, reading, and good conversation, Grau Magazin presents its new winter edition on Saturday (13.12.). Waffles and mulled wine start the afternoon, followed by music, drinks, and, naturally, the new issue featuring talks on art, politics, and design with Alicja Kwade, Forma Fantasma, and many more.

Heading toward Tempelhofer Feld: Johanna Gauder opens her studio on Schillerpromenade for a Winter Market pop-up. This Neukölln apartment building transforms into a small cabinet of wonders on Saturday & Sunday (13.–14.12.), featuring stainless steel objects, ceramics, jewelry, glass design, and bags curated by Anoem ElliouBachner Vessels, Johanna Gauder herself, and others. Looking for a Christmas market with a twist? This is the one. If you’re starting to get into the swing of things, Cashmere Radio has you covered. The Cosmic Tropical Crowdfunding Xmas kicks off on Saturday (13.12.) and runs until midnight, on air and in person (address via DM). Between tropical buffet, mulled wine, and a wild radio program (from Country Christmas to experimental sounds), the highlight is the grand raffle. Prizes include Cashmere merchandise, tickets to the Transmediale Festival, and a few surprises. Wrapping up the day, Sōydivision opens the doors of the 20nine30 exhibition space at Paul-Linke-Ufer on Saturday (13.12.) for its Annual Closing. All the year’s recordings are played, the new Soy&Zine issue is on display, and a Community Holiday Market crowns the gathering. Drop by for pure festive fun. Entry is free; donations are welcome. On Sunday (14.12.), Rhinower Straße becomes the coziest corner of Prenzlauer Berg. Gourmet expert Terese hosts its annual Christmas market. Inside, mulled wine and sweet crêpes steam, while outside, the scent of fondue in baguette and Leberkässemmeln fills the air, accompanied by Christmas beer from Brauerei Schönram. Those needing raclette or fondue for the holidays can pre-order until 15.12. And after the third Advent comes the fourth. On Tuesday (16.12.), settle into Studio Jumi at one of their weaving looms, sipping hot mulled wine. The event is called Advent Weaving. Those interested can book a slot to weave, while others can browse the studio sale for fine little things: handwoven tableware, postcard sets, or workshop vouchers. For a sneak peek at the craft and what can be created on the loom, visit the Advent exhibition at Weberloft on the weekend of 12.12. Handwoven products by Christina Klessmann and Nicole Engelhardt are on display to touch, explore, and purchase. Wishing you a happy third Advent weekend!

DINNER WITH YOUR KIEZ — HOST AND DINE WITH FUTURE FRIENDS AND FOMO BERLIN

DINNER WITH YOUR KIEZ — HOST AND DINE WITH FUTURE FRIENDS AND FOMO BERLIN

What would your fantasy dinner party look like? Roast chicken with Zadie Smith? Whisky sours with John Lennon? Peaches with… Peaches? Or perhaps you want to throw out the rule book, open your door and see who comes in? If that sounds like your thing, you’ll probably be into the Fomo Berlin Kiez Dinner, a decentralized mixer where you and a friend cook for four future friends in your own home. Organized by Fomo Berlin – a media company that has brought people together across more than 75 gatherings and grown into a 15K community of business owners, investors, tech operators and creatives seeking richer experiences, deeper connections, and the small magic of meeting the right people – the event is actually made up of dozens of individual dinner parties all across Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Moabit, Schöneberg and Charlottenburg. The fun part is that the organizers assign you to host only one of three courses: starter, main or dessert.

For the other courses you head out to another hosting team in your district where you can sit back and (with any luck) enjoy their culinary artistry. Each course will have a different lineup of guests, so you’ll get to meet 12 new people over the course of the evening. Afterwards, everyone heads to a single gathering where you can all drink to your kitchen triumphs. If you fancy meeting new people in your hood and are ready to embrace the convivial chaos of eating one dinner in three different places, sign up with a friend here and start ironing those napkins…

BINGO, KITSCH & HIGH TEA — START DECEMBER WITH CC’S CALENDAR TIPS

BINGO, KITSCH & HIGH TEA — START DECEMBER WITH CC’S CALENDAR TIPS

December is here. Don’t worry, we’re starting small with tea ceremonies, charming gift ideas, conversations in train stations, and bingo for a good cause. The week begins at Gropius Bau. On Thursday (04.12.), Spätschicht invites you to join Leila Hekmat for performances, installations, screenings, and a discussion. For this edition, Hekmat brings together artists such as Arthur Chruszcz, Monique Fei, and others. Later, Hussein Chalayan’sAnaesthetics will be shown, a work that examines invisible structures of violence in eleven chapters. A conversation with art critic Kimberly Bradley will follow. And because Spätschicht is always something of a community ritual, admission is free. The following evening, in the heart of Mitte, the BPA exhibition A place never fully held opens (05.12.) simultaneously at KW and Kunst Raum Mitte. Ten artists from the Berlin Program for Artists, including Umut Azad Akkel and Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju, will show works from their second program year. The afterparty takes place at Café Bravo. A trip to Neukölln is also worthwhile. The Stube Gift Shop (05.–07.12.) offers gift ideas for young and old — fashion, kidswear, jewelry, art, vintage pieces, and ceramics curated by StubeR.T.COWallenstein, and many others.

On Saturday (06.12.), we head to Kreuzberg where A Festive Pop-up by Mela Souvenirs invites you to Atelier Sud, featuring artistic Italo kitsch by Johanna Walderdorff, booklets, and vintage tableware, plus sweets and drinks. If you’re strolling through Tiergarten, stop in for a bit of fun: Better Together Bingo & Tombola at Café Tiergarten hosts three rounds of bingo, small prizes, and special guests on Saturday (06.12.). Buying a ticket also means donating to the Berlin Initiative Against Violence Against Women, Polylux, or Off Road Kids. At the same time, artist Monica Bonvicini will speak about her work, her path, and her current projects in the action room at Hamburger Bahnhof, as part of the In Conversation series with director Till Fellrath. Admission is free and the talk will be in English. Meanwhile, the first of two quiet evenings begins on Friedelstraße. Hap Ceramics’ open studio welcomes visitors for ceramics and candlelight this weekend (06.–07.12.). If you’re looking for a peaceful hideaway during the hectic pre-Christmas season, Hap is the place to be. Backhaus Projects is celebrating a small reunion until Sunday (07.12.): the Vintage Pop-up Holiday Editionbrings together Ophelia Vintage and Thee Cultivator, along with guests such as Gemmed by Olive and Studio Joanne. Think vintage, jewelry, home goods, and trinkets. To close out the weekend, make one last stop at Remi. On Sunday (07.12.), Studio Remi will serve its first high tea. In the afternoon, scones, tarts, sandwiches, and small cakes will be served in a fixed sequence. Tea, coffee, and optional glasses of bubbly will be available. Here’s to the little things!

THE BEGINNING OF THE END — WELCOMING WINTER WITH RICHARD, RADIO & RACLETTE

THE BEGINNING OF THE END — WELCOMING WINTER WITH RICHARD, RADIO & RACLETTE

November is tipping into the pre-holiday season, and the CC Calendar is leaning into all things delicious and eventful — between magazine pages, club-kiosks, radio waves, and melting raclette. Here’s what’s worth your time this weekend. At KVOST, the first highlight of the week appears in printed and bound form: Solomiya. The Ukrainian magazine celebrates the launch of its fifth issue, After Now, this Thursday (27.11.2025). Natalia Martynenko will speak with editors and contributors about how the issue came together and the big questions behind it. You’ll also find photographic works on view and a live set by Udda — bass-heavy, but sensually experimental. Time to cozy up: further north in Mitte, things get familial (and fancy), as the Forma Gallery Market fills the courtyard on Auguststraße with a mix of craft, design, and fine things this weekend (28–29.11.). Among the contributors are objects by Juliana Maurer, jewelry by Kiki Dieterle, and irresistible pralines by Pars. In Gesundbrunnen, the festivities start early. On Saturday (29.11.), the new mowe Festivalintroduces itself with a live radio show in collaboration with Cashmere Radio. Expect live acts, conversations on urban culture, a first look at the festival premiere in 2026, and details about the open call. The performance-filled evening program follows shortly after. Location: Studio.dB. Just a few steps down Pankstraße, Klub Maison is reinventing the kiosk — one that promises even more dreamy holiday flair. On Saturday (29.11.), the La Boum X-Mas Kiosk pops up, perfect for strolling, browsing, and gift-finding. Expect colorful pieces by Italo Feelings, glass-bead accessories from Kroon02, and new candles by Luce! Next up: opulent Advent vibes, Kreuzberg-style.

Feasts of Eden, known for beautifully arranged grazing tables (yes, the enormous sharing spreads), is hosting its first Christmas Pop-up on Saturday (29.11.). And it’s going to be a feast. There will be a cocktail bar, a raclette station (yes, really), coffee by August63, and a curated gift shop. Guten Appetit! We’re staying in the neighborhood: on the first Sunday of Advent (30.11.), Fyt Wine invites you to Richard Bistro for a small artisan wine fair called Overcooked. And they’ll be doing what Berlin has become very good at: pouring natural wine. You can sample bottles from around 30 producers, including El Regreso, Carrousel de Tête, and Drink Wine Not Labels. If you prefer to start the contemplative season on a savory note, stop by the Advent Market (30.11.) from Aerde and Monu. Waiting for you: fermented potato waffles, elderberry sauerkraut, winter poultry specialties, homemade mulled wine, and jars to take home. And next Sunday, they’ll do it all again. Repeat, eat, and happy weekend!

SHIRTS, SOUNDS & DESIRE — OUT & ABOUT WITH CC’S CALENDAR PICKS

SHIRTS, SOUNDS & DESIRE — OUT & ABOUT WITH CC’S CALENDAR PICKS

Anyone who makes art wants something, and in this city, people want a lot. Where this drive comes from, where ideas intersect, how densely they can be layered, and who has the courage to speak about it, this is what informed CC’s calendar picks. First up is Crossroads on Thursday (20.11.) at Hamburger Bahnhof. The conversation series brings together Lena Gorelik and Norbert Bisky. The evening will be moderated by Mathilda Legemah and Janika Gelinek, admission is free, and the canvas colorful. Meanwhile, in Kreuzberg (20.11.), the studio of Marten Herma Anderson opens for the soft launch of Illuminated. There, Anderson’s sculptural lamps transform it into an immersive artwork. Childhood memories are hidden here and there. An evening for illumination, reflection, and snacking! Next, Open House in Prenzlauer Berg temporarily transforms into a textile art bazaar. It’s A Shirt, the label by Christina Christodoulou and her father Kostantinos, brings handcrafted, timeless shirts from Athens to Berlin. The pop-up starts on Friday (21.11.) with Greek mezze, cocktails, and music. On Saturday and Sunday (22.–23.11.), browse limited pieces over coffee and small bites. This one is all about the art of dressing well!

Speaking of which, anyone wanting to master layering should stop by GlogauAir. On Friday (21.11.), Tending Layers opens, where twelve Viet-German artists uncover layers of memory and origin. On view until Monday (24.11.). From there, it’s on to Kleiststraße. Cravings is the exhibition in which seven artists, including Charlotte Adam, Fabienne Meyer, Sophia Agnella Anita Stolz, Jovana Reisinger, Isis Maria Niedecken, Chelsea Turowsky und Lilo Klinkenberg, explore longing and pleasure. Painting, literature, food art, and floral works deepen into a sensuous dialogue. Visitors on Saturday (22.11.) or Sunday (23.11.) can take a piece of this desire with them. On Sunday, there will also be a reading by Jovana Reisinger. Anyone who prefers to hold art in their hands will find inspiration on Sunday (23.11.) at the Ceramics Winter Market at Peace Out Paradise, 25 Berlin ceramicists present objects you’ll want to look at and absolutely touch. Perfect for small gifts (remember, Christmas is only four weeks away!). On Tuesday (25.11.), Panke Gallery once again becomes a resonance chamber. Sound Night 16 blends noise, indie folk, and experimental sets into an exhibition of sound. Entry is determined by dice. Those who come don’t just listen to music, they walk through it and let themselves drift into the night. At Backhaus ProjectsThe Silenced Project seeks to make itself heard. On Wednesday (26.11.), the exhibition Silenced Words gathers accounts from women* who have experienced sexualized or psychological violence in the media industry. With Chain Mail, a quiet chain of solidarity emerges: read an anonymous story, add your own, and pass it on. A place that proves listening can be an artistic act, and sharing helps, if you choose it.
