A FEAST FOR THE SENSES — DINNER EVENT INSPIRED BY EASTERN EUROPE FROM FORTUNA FOREST

A FEAST FOR THE SENSES — DINNER EVENT INSPIRED BY EASTERN EUROPE FROM FORTUNA FOREST

It’s an evening I will never forget: a dreamy-mystical picnic in the middle of a forest, accompanied by ethereal sounds, waving ribbons in rustling trees and delicious cuisine in tiffin boxes. This was back in the summer of 2021, and my hosts were Yulia Roth and Laura Iriondo from Fortuna Forest. Together they create food and drink concepts in collaboration with artists, and luckily for us they have a dinner coming up this Sunday, 19.12.2021. Instead of a picnic in the forest (because, well, winter), the dinner will be held indoors, though I’m sure it will be just as magical. Wherever the location, the duo always manage to create unusual and inspiring atmospheres.

This time, diners will be joined by musicians Propinquity with a dreamy set and Alizée Lenox on guitar. Hosted in a spacious loft, the event is billed as an “Eastern European extravaganza”, with a theme inspired by the 1966 Czechoslovakian film “Daisies”. I know that the food will be fantastic, since Laura – who also runs the catering service Taube Grau – always gets it right with her contemporary, fresh and light cuisine. And there are sure to be well-selected natural wines and bold drinks from Yulia. It’s set to be (another) evening to remember.

LAS — LIGHT AND SPACE FROM ROBERT IRWIN AT KRAFTWERK BERLIN

LAS — LIGHT AND SPACE FROM ROBERT IRWIN AT KRAFTWERK BERLIN

The American artist Robert Irwin began his career as a painter before swapping canvas for open space in the 1970s. Since then, he has been challenging perceptions with his minimalist spatial interventions that often use light. Today, Irwin is a leading member of the “Light and Space” movement and has collaborated with fellow artists like James Turrell and NASA researchers, demonstrating his broad artistic interests. You can now view the largest Irwin work ever to be shown in Europe at Kraftwerk Berlin as part of Light Art Space’s residency at the former power station. Irwin’s “Light and Space” series premiered in 2007 and has now been re-created using fluorescent tubes mounted on white walls in an abstract, highly rhythmic arrangement. The work – Light and Space (Kraftwerk Berlin) – sees Irwin combine white and blue fluorescent tubes mounted on both sides of a free-standing 16x16m wall. The artist creates a comprehensive visual experience that takes our own perception and makes it part of the work, immersing us in his sensory experiment.

A SATURDAY POP-UP MARKET BY GÖRLI — SEVEN BERLIN DESIGNERS AT THE FVF FRIENDS SPACE

A SATURDAY POP-UP MARKET BY GÖRLI — SEVEN BERLIN DESIGNERS AT THE FVF FRIENDS SPACE

When it comes to small design labels that don’t have a physical shop, your best chance to get an in-person glimpse is at a pop-up. With Christmas fast approaching, the latest pop-up event at the FvF Friends Space comes right on time. Seven independent labels from Berlin have joined forces for the Saturday market (11.12.2021) which will include music and refreshments. Besides ceramics and jewelry, you’ll find floral arrangements by Studio Linné plus brands like Truongii, whose crocheted hats we’re in love with. Founded in 2018, the fashion and textile studio is all about blending playful colors with sophisticated details, with embroidered shirts and felted loafers that are great fun. If you fancy a mug-shaped gift, look no further than Claï Studio, the ceramic studio run by architect Stefanie Lennartz. Her sleek vessels are perfect for your morning cortado and impress with their minimalist appearance. For wine-based refreshment, check out the range from natural wine project Nature’s Calling, whose limited-edition wines are sourced from young German winemakers. Whether you’re looking for gifts for your loved ones or just want to treat yourself, the Friends Space is the place to head this Saturday.

DISCOVER YOURSELF THROUGH INTUITIVE PAINTING WITH THULI WOLF — RECOMMENDED BY ANNA FALCK-YTTER

DISCOVER YOURSELF THROUGH INTUITIVE PAINTING WITH THULI WOLF — RECOMMENDED BY ANNA FALCK-YTTER

As grown-ups, we often neglect those deeply anchored, fundamental things that do us good. One of them is painting – an activity we all do as children and which helps us establish a more sensual connection to our inner being. As the year draws to a close and a new cycle begins, it’s the ideal moment – not least given all the uncertainties in today’s world – to take time for ourselves and rediscover the power of our instincts. At Thuli Wolf’s Intuitive Painting workshop you will learn how to use your intuition to perceive yourself in new ways, thus gaining a better understanding of your mind. You join Thuli at Stillpoint Spaces Berlin, where alongside an intimate circle of 15 participants you are told how to listen to your subconscious so you can enter into a dialog with yourself. Then it’s time to express it: through paint. The three principles that guide Thuli’s work are empathy, trust and a value-free space that allows you to open up. After the painting is over, Thuli invites group members to think about the dynamic between the art and themselves – a sort of therapy session to conclude this meditative, fun experience.

POWER POP AND CAR TECH — DRIVE LIVE EVENT WITH MOGLI AT THE VOLKSWAGEN NETWORKING LOUNGE

POWER POP AND CAR TECH — DRIVE LIVE EVENT WITH MOGLI AT THE VOLKSWAGEN NETWORKING LOUNGE

Mogli is not one to shy away from a challenge. Ever since she released her 2015 debut album, the singer-songwriter has shunned the record industry mainstream to make music on her own terms. Now, the 27-year-old artist is back with her latest indie album, Ravage, whose theme is one we can all identify with: finding courage and confidence in the face of an uncertain future. Accompanied by a groundbreaking 60-minute film, the album will be released in 2022 but you can get a special – live – preview of the new music at tonight’s edition of the Drive Live networking series (18.11.2021 from 18h30). Mogli will perform an intimate set to a small audience, giving you a sneak peek at her electro-influenced sound. The venue for the show is the Volkswagen Networking Lounge, where you can also enjoy after-work drinks, network with like-minded guests and explore the “Drive Progress” exhibition featuring the latest Audi car tech. Tickets for tonight’s event are strictly limited, so secure yours online now.
