HOW TO RE-INVENT THE ORDINARY? FIND OUT AT THE ROE&CO.LLECTIVE MEETS CEE CEE LESSONS TALK ON 04.05.2019

HOW TO RE-INVENT THE ORDINARY? FIND OUT AT THE ROE&CO.LLECTIVE MEETS CEE CEE LESSONS TALK ON 04.05.2019

Who are the people shaping tomorrow? How are these people reinventing the seemingly everyday? For the next Roe&Co.llective x Cee Cee Lesson we have invited three changemakers to share the methods, decisions and strategies they use to reinvent the ordinary. Brazilian artist, activist and cook Tainá Guedes will discuss her work with the Entretempo Kitchen Gallery and Food Art Week. Shani Leiderman, mastermind behind Beba at the Gropius Bau, will tell us about a career which has taken her from Israel to Germany via countless other places. Julian Lechner will share his experience turning waste into a business model. He’s the founder of Kaffeeform, a company turning used coffee grounds into reusable coffee cups. Prepare to share stories, think critically, and engage in a constructive discussion on how we have the power to reinvent our surroundings. Join us at the Freunde von Freunde Friends Space on Saturday 04.05.2019. Drinks from the masters at Roe&Co will be on hand while Knalle, Berlin’s best popcorn makers, will provide delicious snacks. HELEN AMIRI RECOMMENDS: CHUPAROSA BY KEMP GADEGAARD

HELEN AMIRI RECOMMENDS: CHUPAROSA BY KEMP GADEGAARD

The first time I wore a Kemp Gadegaard dress was in early 2017, just months after their official launch. Ever since, it has been my go-to brand for sleek and minimal design. Kemp Gadegaard is a Berlin design studio founded by Maya B. Gadegaard and Eilis Kemp focused on functional and beautiful garments. They produce small, limited editions at their atelier in Spain, weaving environmental and socially responsible production into the core. Their latest collection, Chuparosa, will be launched with a four-day presentation starting 25.04.2019 at the Weserhalle. Collaborator and ceramicist Lucy Olivia Ambrosecchiahas hand-crafted unique pieces for this presentation as an homage to the desert, to sand and to vast open spaces. If you love clean design with attention to detail that doesn’t compromise on quality, you’ve found your home. They will also be serving up desert tunes and crisp drinks to go with their stunning pieces. (Text: Helen Amiri / Photos: Kemp Gadegaard)

Helen Amiri is a freelance project manager specializing in events, and is an active member of the Feminist Food Club. She has lived in Kreuzberg since 2015 and made it her personal mission to eat her way through the Berlin food scene.

MCM X APARTAMENTO — MAGAZINE LAUNCH AT 1976 BERLIN STORE

MCM X APARTAMENTO — MAGAZINE LAUNCH AT 1976 BERLIN STORE

MCM and Apartamento are combining their strengths this Saturday 27.04.2019 for the launch of the 23rd edition of the cult interiors magazine. MCM’s 1976 Berlin Storewill provide the setting for the issue launch of the Barcelona-based magazine, known for its charming features on extraordinary people and their homes. Even after 11 years, Apartamento’s three founders continue to adhere to their founding concept, immersing readers in authentic worlds again and again. Center-stage at the event is the “Charcoal” still life series, conceived by Omar Sosa and Ana Dominguez and photographed by Nacho Alegre. Housed in a former car repair shop, 1976 Berlin – the world’s first MCM Experience Store – features imposing displays of stone on long metal tables alongside colored carpet details, giving the space the look and feel of an art gallery. Quite appropriate on a weekend that has art high up the agenda. Stop by the Torstrasse store during your Gallery Weekend tour and grab the latest issue of Apartamento for your home design aspirations. GALLERY WEEKEND — OUR TOP TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL THREE DAYS OF ART

GALLERY WEEKEND — OUR TOP TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL THREE DAYS OF ART

Starting on Friday 26.04.2019, the Gallery Weekend will one again transform the city into one big exhibition. In addition to the 45 galleries officially taking part, numerous museums and off-spaces are also opening their doors with new exhibitions. The Berlinische Galerie will be throwing a spotlight on the architecture studio Realities:United, while at Alte Münze young artists will be exhibiting at The Show. The first stop on our gallery tour will be in Kreuzberg at ChertLüdde, where Sol Calero is using her grandmother’s artistic practice as the starting point for her own work. A few streets further on, at the Barbara Weiss Gallery, painter Frieda Toranzo Jaeger is deconstructing the image of the car as a male power fantasy. Meanwhile at the Alexander Levy gallery, Fabian Knecht will deal with moments of rupture with his performative installations that strikingly demonstrate the instability of our world order. Head to the Tanya Leighton gallery for Math Bass, whose paintings show you a completely unique image system: cartoon-like crocodiles and smoldering cigarettes form abstract pictograms. In the immediate vicinity, Ryan Gander approaches the concept of enlightenment in sculptures, installations and videos at the Esther Schipper exhibition space.
