FONDUE AND RACLETTE FOR FESTIVE FEASTS — SWISS CHEESE MIXTURES DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR BY FONDUELIVERY

FONDUE AND RACLETTE FOR FESTIVE FEASTS — SWISS CHEESE MIXTURES DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR BY FONDUELIVERY

Sat around a candlelit dinner table with some wine and a bowl of steaming cheese fondue in the middle – it’s the ultimate festive indulgence. And now you can enjoy your cheesy feast without any of the hard work courtesy of fondue delivery service Fonduelivery. The Berlin-based cheese experts offer a perfectly-balanced fondue mixture delivered right to your door. All you have to do is heat up your pack (enough for 3–4 people), add your own side dishes for dipping (we recommend the classic potatoes and gherkins) and your communal meal is ready. Founded in November 2020 by “Cheese God” Martin Agosti of Cheesus fame, Fonduelivery’s emphasis is on authenticity: only Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP and Gruyère AOP hard milk cheeses from Switzerland are used for the blend, giving a smell and a taste that transports you to the snowy Alps. Besides the cheese, Martin will also supply you with expertly-matched accompaniments including Silenus white wine cuvée, fresh baguettes from Le Brot and even a fondue base with burner to keep your pot warm. And if that wasn’t enough cheese, the site also offers raclette for classically fresh, intense flavors. It’s all you need for the perfect Christmas or New Year’s Eve feast – though if we’re honest every night can be a fondue night. Fonduelivery deliver on Friday or Saturday depending on your location, with most areas within the Ring are covered (check your address online). Order by end of Wednesday – minimum is €21.50.

WUNDERTREE: SUSTAINABLE POTTED CHRISTMAS TREES DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR

WUNDERTREE: SUSTAINABLE POTTED CHRISTMAS TREES DELIVERED TO YOUR DOOR

Being environmentally conscious shouldn’t mean doing without a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Giving this crucial part of the festive season a green makeover is Berlin-based Wundertree, a website that will deliver you a living, potted Nordmann Fir to your doorstep. Better still, after Christmas your tree is picked up and then planted in a forest 35km south of Berlin. Andrew Green and Milan Hänsel founded the service in a bid to stop the felling of over 30 million Christmas trees every year in Germany. And since conventional festive trees are typically burnt in the new year, Wundertree is already 100 percent better in terms of CO2 emissions at the time of purchase – and this will only improve as the tree grows with time. Moreover, through the planting of additional native trees and electric vehicle delivery, the team have increased the environmental benefits even more. You can order trees of different sizes by 06.12.2020 (while stocks last!) making this Christmas as sustainable as it is traditional. (Text: Bui Luu Quynh Nguyen/ Photos: Wundertree)

Thanks to Lucy Thorpe for the Tip!

VOM GUTEN IM SCHLECHTEN — 2021/22 ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR MONTHLY GUIDANCE FEAT. IMAGES BY JULIAN CHARRIÈRE

Do you wish you could fast-forward to a more stable, peaceful era? While it is not a time machine, 2021: Vom Guten im Schlechten is a beautiful diary that will guide you through the twists and turns of the coming months and years. The hardcover calendar runs from October 2020 to March 2022 and dedicates a full double-page spread to each week for all your appointments, plans and post-lockdown dreams. But this is no ordinary study agenda: within its pages are 12 academic texts on the subject of “The Good in the Bad”, curated by editors Benedict Esche and Miriam Akkermann with help from Die Junge Akademie. Even if you are unfamiliar with the topics, the texts are accessible and highly relevant, such as historian Christoph Lundgreen’s essay which discusses how to respond to the breaking of norms. For a visual counterpart, a series of photos by Berlin-based artist Julian Charrière shows him smashing 12 hourglasses against a wall. Flicking through the weeks and months, you see Charrière destroy time and space – a fitting impression in this age of upset. (Text: Benji Haughton / Photos: Bui Luu Quynh Nguyen & Sophie Döring)
