The first “Berlin Design Guide” has just been released. Focusing from a contemporary angle, it is a compendium of Berlin creations: architecture, design, art and fashion. The book is a handbook and guide in one, not only offering practical information such as maps and walking tours, but also insights into different scenes with tips from local creatives talents. Anecdotes on the German capital’s development into the “City of Design” make this a must-read not only for visitors but residents as well. My new year’s resolution is to eat more rice. Thanks to Sohrab Mohammad, Torben Buttjer and a couple more boys from Bremen, this one should be easy to stick to. They came up with “Reishunger“, an online shop dedicated to rice, offering no less than 21 different varieties of rice in which twelve are organic. For example you’ll find whole grain basmati, Japanese, paella, red or black sticky rice. The Cee Cee team tried a couple of them and we loved both the quality and the concept. A good Risotto from Piemont is hard to find in Berlin. But their crowning glory is the Sadri rice from the nothern province of Iran – a product that isn’t meant for export. How the team managed to convince the farmers, we don’t know, but one thing is certain: since all of the selections are bought directly from the farmers, the prices are kept low but fair.
