“PICNICK!” POP-UP FROM SÜPER STORE — DESIGN EVENT FOR INNOVATIVE ACCESSORIES AND HOME DESIGN PIECES

“PICNICK!” POP-UP FROM SÜPER STORE — DESIGN EVENT FOR INNOVATIVE ACCESSORIES AND HOME DESIGN PIECES

For many of us, summer is synonymous with eating picnics laid out on a plaid blanket under the sun. But here’s a feast with a difference: the “Picknick!” pop-up from design shop Süper Store. It’s special for a few reasons: for one thing, instead of serving food you’ll find a range of interior design goods and fashion accessories. Oh, and you’ll enjoy it not in a park but inside Kreuzberg’s Aufbau Haus on Moritzplatz. For over 10 years, German designer Elisabeth Schotte has been hand-selecting the pieces at Süper, a venture she co-founded with Swiss artist Vanessa Marangoni. At the event this Friday and Saturday (10. & 11.06.2022), you’ll be able to browse a range of household objects, gifts and jewelry which includes Taisho Roman vases by Tokyo’s Hirota Glass, mesmerizing hanging mobiles for your living room by Danish family-owned Flensted Mobiles, Finnish textiles by Lapuan Kankurit and glass jewelry by Brandenburg’s Christian Metzner(see the full range here). If you’re looking for those special pieces to refresh your home (and accessory drawer), then the first floor of Aufbau Haus is a good place to start your search.

ANALOGRAUM — CONTEMPORARY DESIGN AT POP-UP SHOWROOM #7

ANALOGRAUM — CONTEMPORARY DESIGN AT POP-UP SHOWROOM #7

If you’re a lover of minimalist design and timeless furniture, you’ve probably come across Franziska Wernicke’s Analograum. Since launching the concept store in 2016, Wernicke has remained true to her concept, using her focused eye and sense of style to curate design pieces. Every year, new objects are added to the collection, which has gained a reputation for its focus on strong forms and craftsmanship. 2022 additions include the Plié shelving system by the Lisbon-based designer Util, finished in hand-brushed raw aluminum. The shelving units offer the perfect balance of design, functionality, smart construction and elegance. You can admire these new objects as well as well-known classics by Sabine Marcelis, Martino Gamper, Form.Lightning and Serax at the temporary showroom Erstererster gallery in Prenzlauer Berg (open until Sunday 05.06.2022). If you can’t make it to the Salone die Mobile in Milan, then Analograum is your Berlin-based solution. Innovative furniture fans: assemble.

SUMMER STYLE AND SELF CARE ON LABELS — SHOP LOCAL BRANDS FOR FUN SUNGLASSES, SKINCARE, TEES AND MORE

SUMMER STYLE AND SELF CARE ON LABELS — SHOP LOCAL BRANDS FOR FUN SUNGLASSES, SKINCARE, TEES AND MORE

Summer often arrives with calls for a style and self-care revamp. But how can you update your look and give your body a boost without the guilt of waste and emissions? You’ll find the answer on your phone, thanks to Labels, the planet-friendly delivery service for fashion and beauty from local Berlin brands. Just in time for lake days, bike rides and sunny walks, the app’s latest additions include the trendy and customizable sunglasses from R.T.CO. The brand uses natural and renewable cellulose acetate and non-scratch materials to ensure the glasses will endure summer after summer. Designed in Berlin, they feature Italian craftsmanship and Carl Zeiss lenses. Our favorites: the statement Bottle green and Hudson blue shades. But what good is protecting your eyes just to allow your skin and hair to suffer from the rays? Enter I+M Naturkosmetik Berlin, whose plant powered, nanoparticle-free and climate neutral skincare collection makes constant reapplication of sticky sunscreen a thing of the past.

The range includes a waterproof SPF 50 sunscreen, an aftersun and a 2-in-1 gel that genuinely is good for both body and hair (and ideal for camping trips). The Labels app is also full of fresh fashion finds, including from On Vacation, the brand whose sustainable organic cotton and super soft tees come complete with gorgeous streetwear motifs and fun phrases to add a pop to each fit. Oh, and the best part about getting your summer essentials from Labels? Your order will be delivered by e-bike right to your door. Sunny season: we’re ready for you.

DISCOVER GREEN DIVERSITY AND GIVE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE A PLANT-BASED MAKEOVER — HOFGRÜN NURSERY

DISCOVER GREEN DIVERSITY AND GIVE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE A PLANT-BASED MAKEOVER — HOFGRÜN NURSERY

The bees are buzzing, the grass is growing and our shoulders are feeling the sun’s rays once again. Yes, spring is here, and that calls for a plant-packed visit to Hofgrün. Before you even arrive at this plant nursery, you know you’re in the right place thanks to the giant signage standing above a colorful sea of flowers. Inside, you’ll find everything from spices to grasses, with perennial plants a particular speciality. Hofgrün has been growing greenery on the site since 1985, when they took over the Kreuzberg municipal nursery (the district parks office remains next door). Head to the right, and you’ll find another green oasis that includes bee boxes and an insect hotel.

In addition to the in-house cultivated perennials, the nursery also sells organic compost, flower pots and fertilizer to get you growing and offers tips to make your garden bee- and insect-friendly. If you need a little assistance to turn your space into a plant paradise, Hofgrün also offers a landscaping service for gardens and terraces. Whether you want to stock up your herb garden, add some color to your patio or start your own vegetable patch, a trip to this Kreuzberg oasis is a must – and it makes a great excursion too!
