KOLYMA2: FAIR FOOD DELIVERY FOR LUNCHES AND DINNERS WITH A SOCIAL CONSCIENCE

We are big fans of #supportyourlocal, but what about the riders and drivers who bring that tasty dinner to your door? Kolyma2 is a food delivery service that puts the rights of these committed couriers front and center, offering a truly local and social alternative to multinational takeaway startups. Named after a character in the film Burn After Reading, the rider-owned delivery collective was launched in August 2019 by former Deliveroo couriers Stefano Lombardo and Christopher Mäuer. Kolyma2’s platform is modest, prioritizing personal and sustainable service over fancy apps and free all-hours delivery. Their 40 restaurant partners are mainly in Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Neukölln, with Cee Cee picks such as GoldiesHoly Flat and Chez Dang all on board – check out the delightfully lo-fi website or app to see your local options. Our tasty lunch from the Friedrichshain branch of Mercosy came courtesy of rider Max, who delivered homemade Korean favorites including salmon sashimi and a bibimbap with sea asparagus and tofu. What made it all the more tasty: knowing that our rider was as well cared for as the food itself. (Text: Benji Haughton / Photos: Bui Luu Quynh Nguyen & Michael O’ Ryan)

Kolyma2 delivers for lunch and dinner, daily 12–22h. The selection varies by location and time – check the website for delivery options and prices.
