LOUMI: EXCLUSIVE 12-COURSE MENUS AT SECRET LOCATION IN NEUKÖLLN

LOUMI: EXCLUSIVE 12-COURSE MENUS AT SECRET LOCATION IN NEUKÖLLN

A piece of advice: don’t give up while looking for your dinner! It might just be tucked away behind an unassuming unmarked door on a busy Neukölln street. And yes, you do enter through a very dark Hof and up some stairs to a private apartment, but once inside you will be met with charming hosts, a handful of friendly strangers and an unforgettable dining experience. Loumi began in 2017 when Mical Rosenblat and Karl-Louis Kömmler started cooking small dinners for friends. Spurred on by positive feedback and a passion for natural, seasonal, regional and ethical ingredients, they developed a private dining concept held monthly in different locations across Berlin and Hamburg. In 2018 they decided to offer the same (ever-changing) Loumi Tasting Menu, but this time in a more private, intimate setting with a table that seats just six guests.

On the evening we visited, twelve impeccably presented and truly innovative dishes were served. They included “Jerusalem Artichoke with Mushroom Fumet and Yolk”, “Pollock with Koji Sauce, Sea Urchin XO and Pumpkin”, as well as two personal highlights: “Maitake with Yeast Sabayon & Corn Miso” and “Nishiki Rice Pudding with Citrus Salad & Kokotu Sugar”. The passion these two hosts have is clear: always happy to discuss tasting notes, the cooking process or from where each of the ingredients were sourced.. The seafood comes from Berlin’s Fish Klub, meat from Wagyu Zucht Nordfriesland and a selection of the wines from Rocket Wine. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary where high-quality, innovative dishes are served alongside plenty of interaction with the hosts and other guests alike, look no further.
