LIFE BEYOND SCREENS — HEINEKEN AFTERWORK EVENT AT PRINCE CHARLES INSPIRES IN-PERSON CONNECTIONS

LIFE BEYOND SCREENS — HEINEKEN AFTERWORK EVENT AT PRINCE CHARLES INSPIRES IN-PERSON CONNECTIONS

The average young person spends almost six hours a day on their smartphone – at least according to a recent study commissioned by brewing brand Heineken. More and more of us are looking to reclaim this time for face-to-face interactions – something Heineken is hoping to address with an afterwork event at Prince Charles next Thursday (04.09.2025). The invite-only evening launches the brand’s “Social off Socials” campaign and includes discussions on digital wellness as well as arcade games, gourmet burgers and cocktails. Afterwards, guests are invited to let loose on Prince Charles’s iconic pool dancefloor. The idea of the initiative is to encourage real-world interactions, whether it’s game nights with friends or barbecues in the park. With Cee Cee, you will have the chance to win a ticket and one of the limited-edition Heineken x Bodega “Boring Phones” – sleek Y2K-style devices that focus on calls and texts rather than scrolling and social media. If you are looking for IRL connection, a dumb phone like this might just be a smart choice…

CELEBRATING, REMEMBERING, SUPPORTING — CC’S CALENDAR TIPS

CELEBRATING, REMEMBERING, SUPPORTING — CC’S CALENDAR TIPS

August is waving goodbye, and with the end of summer, Berlin is slowly filling up again. Before next week’s art events take over the city, the coming days invite you to celebrate, indulge, and take part — from parties to solidarity dinners, from high tea to quiz nights. On Saturday (30.08.2025), the evening kicks off with the opening of Flōat Studio in Kreuzberg. The new space combines Pilates and yoga classes while also creating a place for community gatherings of all kinds — from after-work get-togethers to studio dinners. Later that night, Toy Tonics is hosting their Summer Jam at Aeden: four dance floors, 25 DJs, 17 hours of partying — grab tickets here. On Thursday (04.09.), einBuch.haus opens its doors for Quotes about Books from Books about Books by Norwegian artist Sveinn Fannar Jóhannsson. The exhibition combines artist book, reading room, and archive: 148 quotes from publications of the past five decades are brought together, complemented by readings and installations that reconsider the book as a political, aesthetic, and participatory object. The following Sunday (08.09.), Bistro Spumante is hosting a solidarity dinner for Afghanistan. Expect vegetarian and meat dumplings, and ice cream for dessert. All proceeds go directly to people affected by deportations. And one more date to mark down: Thursday (19.09.), Bag of Weasels Quiz Night at Desi Diner. Gather four to five friends, form a team, and quiz for prizes. Good food, good drinks, good cause: proceeds will support the Shwaikh family in Gaza. A small reminder of just how much is possible in this city — together and for each other.

CROISSANT SESSION NO. 03 — A MORNING FOR COMMUNITY, MUSIC & COFFEE AT CAFÉ BRAVO

CROISSANT SESSION NO. 03 — A MORNING FOR COMMUNITY, MUSIC & COFFEE AT CAFÉ BRAVO

How do you turn a Saturday morning into something special? You do it together. With Cee Cee’s own Croissant Sessions, we’re creating a new kind of morning ritual, one that brings people together IRL around music, good coffee, and a shared vibe. After two sunny sessions in Neukölln and Mitte, we’re back in the heart of Mitte for Croissant Session No. 03, and this one’s something special. We’ve teamed up with KW Institute for Contemporary ArtSwim GoodCafé Bravo, and Coffee Week Berlin to turn the iconic KW courtyard into a daytime party space. Art, music, croissants, and culture — all in one of Berlin’s most unique locations. This session’s sound will be provided by DJs Stimulus, DJ Jenesis, and Trigger T from Swim Good, a Berlin-based collective with a finely tuned ear for soulful, danceable grooves. Think hip-hop, edits, R&B, house, and everything in between. And it gets even better. Their sets will be recorded live for Swim Good Radio, so you can relive the morning’s energy later on Apple Music. And because we believe in starting the weekend right, there’ll be free mini croissants from The Sanctuary for the early birds (first come, first served), and Café Bravo will be serving coffee classics as well as a few boozy twists.

CC CALENDAR: FROM OPEN AIR AT TREPTOWER STRAND TO THE FLEA MARKET AT JULES

CC CALENDAR: FROM OPEN AIR AT TREPTOWER STRAND TO THE FLEA MARKET AT JULES

What connects a flea market, queer dance training, swing music in a beer garden, and a last round on the beach? The desire to celebrate together — an attitude that combines escapism and solidarity. Here are CC’s Calendar tips for the weekend and beyond. Feel the sand between your toes one more time before August comes to an end. After a successful start last month, Refuge Worldwide invites you to a second open-air event (24.08.2025) on Treptower Straße. This time featuring Adam Cooke, do25inco, Mandel & Jana Falcon, and TRU:L — all residents of Berlin Community Radio. All proceeds, after venue and performance fees, will go directly to maintaining the station. There will be Jamaican cuisine from the grill from 14:00 until sunset, courtesy of Royal Jerk. On Thursday (28.08.), we’ll celebrate summer one last time with plant-based cuisine, poetry, and a long outdoor dining table. Safiya Robinson is cooking for Gather for the first time in Berlin. Her dishes are rooted in Afro-diasporic cooking traditions, inspired by her Black American, Jamaican, and English heritage. For her, it’s not just about taste, but attitude: how, why, and with whom we eat.

The menu is dedicated to Audre Lorde, the author and activist who once lived and worked in Berlin. The dinner will be accompanied by a live soundtrack from the Berlin label PLOT Records, which provides a platform for FLINTA* and BIPOC artists. With the Çaystube (27.–30.08.), the Pop-Kultur Festival creates an open, free space for queer, post-migrant, decolonial togetherness. Bodies as political voices, movement as identity: between dance, music, and discussion formats, a place is created that consciously opposes norms. The kickoff is on Wednesday in the courtyard and is free to attend. For those who prefer dancing to discussing, we recommend the Friendly Flohmarkt x Swing Base. On Sunday (31.08.), Jules B-Part will be transformed into a place of vintage finds, big band sound, and beginner workshops. Three live bands, drop-in courses for all levels, soft drinks, soft ice cream, and second-hand items are included. Admission is free, access is open to all, and a lively atmosphere is guaranteed. The Forward Festival is once again going deep. On 28.–29.08. at HKW, attend talks, performances, and workshops with Natasha Jen (Pentagram), Erik Kessels, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, and many more. The motto: “Turn ideas into action”. Whether on the dance floor, over a meal, or in conversation, the coming week will serve as an example of what can happen when people share space with each other. Perhaps this is the most beautiful way to end this Berlin summer.

TIMELOOP UNDER THE STARS — CEE CEE X HINGE MOONLIGHT MOVIE NIGHT

TIMELOOP UNDER THE STARS — CEE CEE X HINGE MOONLIGHT MOVIE NIGHT

Summer evenings in Berlin have their own magic and call for open-air moments! And it’s best when there’s a big screen flickering somewhere in the dark. Movies in the moonlight? Yes, please. Together with Hinge, the dating app designed to be deleted, we at Cee Cee have created Moonlight Movie Night (29.08.2025). For this event, Studio C, located directly on the water at Rummelsburger Bucht, will be transformed into an open-air cinema. Of course, it’s about more than just movies: on deck chairs by the water, with a view of the sunset, there’s room for good company – before and after the movie. The film “Palm Springs” (2020) will be shown for this one-night-only event: a romantic comedy that retells the classic time loop plot with dry humor and a lot of heart – perfect to laugh and connect. Classic cinema snacks will also be provided, of course – popcorn, ice cream, and maybe a little spark? Bring a friend, bring a lover, bring a partner. We promise: You’ll have a good time. And best of all, admission is free: you can join the evening with one of the limited tickets we’re giving away: 50 tickets, always in sets of two. And if you’re not in Berlin, the Moonlight Movie Night is also taking place in Hamburg (25. & 26.08.) – under the same stars, on a different shore.
