EXAMINING CRISIS AS A MEANS OF CHANGE, SOLIDARITY, PROPAGANDA, FAKE NEWS AND GLOBAL WARMING — Q BERLIN

EXAMINING CRISIS AS A MEANS OF CHANGE, SOLIDARITY, PROPAGANDA, FAKE NEWS AND GLOBAL WARMING — Q BERLIN

There are many pressing questions facing us both now and in the future. What consequences will the war in Ukraine have for global politics? How will we deal with pandemics in the future? And what role do metropolises like Berlin play in dealing with such global crises? Under the title “The New Unknown – Navigating Zeitenwende,” the fifth edition of Q Berlin 2022 kicks off in one week. After nearly a decade, the capital’s hybrid conference will return to the iconic ICC Berlin, focusing on the historical tipping point in which we are currently living. You can expect two exciting days full of discussions, lectures and panels on explosive topics and sensitive topics with local and global relevance. Opening with the two mayors of Paris and Berlin, Anne Hidalgo and Franziska Giffey, the stage belongs to international speakers, including Belarusian opposition leader Svyatlana Zikhanouskaya on stolen elections and democracy, journalist and moderator Marietta Slomka on fake news and propaganda, and architect Rem Koolhaas on his growing concerns of European self-isolation and the role of data hubs within urban infrastructure. Participate in shaping our future and follow the heated debates live in Berlin or online.

“BUT FIRST, LOCAL” AT BERLIN FASHION WEEK — RETHINKING LOCALITY AND END OF SUMMER PARTY WITH LABELS & DAMUR

“BUT FIRST, LOCAL” AT BERLIN FASHION WEEK — RETHINKING LOCALITY AND END OF SUMMER PARTY WITH LABELS & DAMUR

Labels have been empowering local brands in reaching locals directly for a while now. For this Fashion Week, they are collaborating with #Damur, one of the sustainable icons of Berlin’s fashion landscape. The designer’s timeless ready-to-wear pieces will survive in your closet while you wear them out over, and over, again. Under the common perspective: “think global, act local” the two Berlin-based brands are hosting a warm-up roundtable that calls to think about the future of Berlin as a circular city and how to create a scenario where fashion and urban design help each other accelerate the transition. Isabelle Küchle, Sustainability Consultant at Planetly, Alessandra-Isabel Hager, Co-Founder of A-Gain Guide and Co-Founder of LoopLook Marte Hentschel, CEO at Sqetch (Simply Sourcing Apparel), Shih-Shun Huang, Founder at #Damur, Romy Lagodka, Co-Founder at Labels and Dr. Jesko Perrey, Global Growth Senior Leader and Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company are among the special guests. The event is this Saturday (10.09.2022) at Wellenwerk, and the evening will close with an End-of-Summer Party after the presentation of #Damur’S Spring-Summer 2023 Ready-to-wear collection “Impact Zone”.

Q BERLIN — TWO DAYS OF INSPIRING KEYNOTES, HARD-HITTING QUESTIONS AND WORLD-CHANGING IDEAS AT ICC BERLIN

Q BERLIN — TWO DAYS OF INSPIRING KEYNOTES, HARD-HITTING QUESTIONS AND WORLD-CHANGING IDEAS AT ICC BERLIN

Do cities hold the solutions to the world’s growing list of problems? If they do, then Q Berlin 2022 is certainly where you’ll hear about it. Starting in two weeks, the fifth edition of Berlin’s official metropolitan conference invites experts from all over the world to share their ideas on everything from fake news and food security to pandemics and the climate crisis. A two-day program of keynotes and discussions will deal with hard-hitting questions of the day: how can we identify propaganda? Can metropolises unite to solve the world’s challenges? And what does war in Europe mean for a city like Berlin? Franziska Giffey and Anne Hidalgo, mayors of Berlin and Paris, will kick off the first day before international speakers take to the stage to present this year’s three key themes: Transformation & Resilience, Global Cohesion & Solidarity and Democracies in Danger.

Among those set to speak are Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Leader of democratic Belarus, and the architect Rem Koolhaas. Day two takes things deeper, with talks and discussions that pick apart day one’s issues. Expect interesting and authoritative words from the likes of Yemeni Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman, journalist and TV host Marietta Slomka and Magid Magid, Lord Mayor of Sheffield and Founder of Union of Justice. The venue for these transcendent themes and bold ideas is appropriately grand: the sci-fi-inspired colossus that is the ICC Berlin, which is hosting its first conference in nearly a decade.
