ALL MINE — VALENTINE’S POP-UP FROM PARS X UP AND COMING ON SCHÖNLEINSTRASSE

ALL MINE — VALENTINE’S POP-UP FROM PARS X UP AND COMING ON SCHÖNLEINSTRASSE

Helping you bring positive vibes this Valentine’s Day (14.02.) Kristiane Kegelmann of Pars and Chelsea Turowsky of Up and Coming are marking the opening of the Pars Kreuzberg showroom this weekend (13–.14.02) with the All Mine pop-up. The event brings together Pars’ high-quality, perfectly delectable pralines, Studio Linné’s mesmerizing floral arrangements, culinary delights from Schöneberg eatery Lok6 plus beautifully curated market goods from the Up and Coming range. Highlights include pasta by La Bolognina, natural wine, cakes and hot chocolate to go and ceramics from Tegan Emerson.

Specially for Valentine’s, the team have created different gift sets featuring selections of gourmet food, wines, cocktails, bouquets and design pieces. There are five different options to choose from – CrushBlossomEarthHope and Coral – all of which can be pre-purchased online and picked up in person, with walk-ins also welcome. If that wasn’t enough, you can also take home a handmade blood orange upside-down cake from Lok6 for an indulgent weekend treat. Whether you are in a relationship, single or somewhere in between, this pop-up has all you need for treating your favorite person – or yourself – this Valentine’s.

REFERENCE FESTIVAL: ONLINE FASHION WEEK EVENTS BRINGING TOGETHER CREATIVES FROM ALL OVER WITH 032C, GMBH, BALENCIAGA & MORE

REFERENCE FESTIVAL: ONLINE FASHION WEEK EVENTS BRINGING TOGETHER CREATIVES FROM ALL OVER WITH 032C, GMBH, BALENCIAGA & MORE

This year fashion week is online only, but that hasn’t stopped the creative minds behind it from putting together a great programme. Case in point: the 2021 Reference Festival, which premiered in 2019 and is returning once again as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week from 21–23.01.2021 with the support of the city’s Administration for Economy, Energy and Urban Development. Created by the agency of the same name, the three-day Reference event serves up hybrid formats that present art and fashion in perfect harmony. At today’s launch (21.01) you can see the festival’s very special backdrop – the Zeiss Planetarium – with highlights including sculptures by Tobias Spichtig in collaboration with Balenciaga and a presentation by 032C to mark 20 years of the iconic magazine. Other must-sees include the show by Berlin label GmbH (22.01) and Saturday’s panel on the “Reference Prize” (23.01). The contest, which runs until the summer, invites up-and-coming designers from all over the world to submit their work for the chance to gain support from Reference and fashion label Slam Jam in creating their very own brand. With art, fashion and culture, this line-up has it all – and it’s just one click away!

PALAZZO ANTICRISI & VICTORIA TACOS POP-UP — INSTALLATION MEETS WINE SPÄTI MEETS MEXICAN STREET FOOD

PALAZZO ANTICRISI & VICTORIA TACOS POP-UP — INSTALLATION MEETS WINE SPÄTI MEETS MEXICAN STREET FOOD

At Torstraße.74 sits a surreal place for surreal times: Palazzo Anticrisi, a temporary installation at the former No.74 clothing store that offers a unique space for social interaction. Working with Berlin architects Something Fantastic and Sam Chermayeff, founder Fabian Johow has created a room that brings the outdoors in: bathed in ruby-red light, the hall-like space features an oversized street lamp in the middle looming over sparse bench-style seating. Austere yet sociable, it’s a fascinating place to spend time – yet there is more to do, for from now until December the space is also home to a kiosk offering a good selection of natural wines to enjoy there or to go (Thu-Sat). On Fridays and Saturdays, meanwhile, the palace opens its doors to a spicy popup by Victoria Tacos. Fresh from an Art Week stand at the Wilhelm Hallen, the Mexican food pros are now based at the Palazzo, serving deliciously non-traditional tacos in vegan (king oyster mushroom), vegetarian (melt-in-the-mouth jackfruit) and meaty (slow-cooked pork) varieties. Get your order with a bottle to go or pick out a comfy throne and enjoy a session of food, drinks and thoughtful contemplation – just like an Italian aristocrat. LIMBO — THE POP-UP DINNER WHERE EXPERIMENTAL CUISINE MEETS ART

LIMBO — THE POP-UP DINNER WHERE EXPERIMENTAL CUISINE MEETS ART

Locally-sourced experimental cuisine served on dishes that are themselves pieces of art – that’s what awaits you at Limbo, the pop-up dinner developed by artist and Agora Collective co-founder Caique Tizzi. Held at the Eoin Moylan Studio on an industrial site in Tempelhof, this series is a chance to eat dinner in an artists’ space where food and creativity exist side by side. Amidst high ceilings and charming furniture, you are served an opulent five-course menu accompanied by excellent wines like the delicious Rossanel natural rosé from Italy. Every time Caique serves one of his contemporary-yet-classic dishes, he shares the story behind it. Like the farofa served with pork, black beans, chipotle salsa and orange, which – we learn – comes from Brazil and incorporates cassava flour. Other bold food moves include watermelon with kimchi and cucumber served, like most of the dishes, on ceramics by Berlin artist Jonas Wendelin. It’s this blending of cutting-edge flavor, art and design that makes Limbo really something special. (Text: Ramona Razaghmanesh / Photos: Gabrielė Mišeikytė)

A MAZE./ BERLIN: THE ARTHOUSE VIDEO GAME FESTIVAL FOR FORWARD-THINKING PLAYERS

A MAZE./ BERLIN: THE ARTHOUSE VIDEO GAME FESTIVAL FOR FORWARD-THINKING PLAYERS

Video game festivals are for people tethered to their joysticks and gamepads, right? Not at A Maze./ Berlin, the online festival for games and playful media that celebrates the full diversity of interactive content, from VR art to the Chain Zine– a magazine that is made collaboratively by forwarding it to different creators across the world. The three-day program includes a talk on diversity and ethics in the gaming world, live cooking shows and the delightfully titled “How to feel slightly less awkward in virtual and non-virtual spaces“, a guided brainstorming session to help overcome awkwardness. In its ninth edition (but online for the first time) the festival will once again award the best video game from 26 nominees, including the meditative platform game Ynglet and real-life headphone party app Secret Shuffle. The coolest part: the whole festival takes place within the A Maze. Space, a 3D world where you participate in the program as a flamingo. Gamer stereotypes: be gone! (Text: Benji Haughton / Photos: A Maze./Berlin)

A Maze./ Berlin runs 22–25.07.2020. You can register for a three-day digital ticket free of charge online. Some of the sessions require an additional paid ticket – see the program for details.
