TINMAN — THE MITTE STOP FOR FRESH BREWS, GOURMET SANDWICHES AND REGIONAL PANTRY PRODUCE TO TAKE HOME
The area around Torstraße and Alte Schönhauser Straße is always full of busy people. So it’s a good job that this corner is also home to Tinman, the friendly stop-off that has it all: fresh coffee from 19 grams, lunchtime bites made from regional ingredients and a whole range of pantry goods from Berlin’s best local suppliers. Step into the airy, plant-filled cafe and you are hit with the delicious aromas of what founders Miriam, Harry and Justin are serving up: a breakfast brioche filled with gourmet meats from Markthalle Neun regulars The Sausage Man Never Sleeps and Kumpel & Keule, sourdough sandwiches made fresh daily and delicious baked goodies from Albatross.
Every weekend the team creates specials that feature ingredients from the city’s most progressive gastro players, like the focaccia tuna melt which is made with bread from Estelle dining and Emmentaler cheese from Alte Milch. As for the pantry goods, the section ranges from carefully curated, imported natural Spanish wines to fresh Berlin-made peanut & almond butter and caponata from Ada’s Deli. Since opening in June 2017 the Tinman team have been taking their commitment to local sourcing further and further, and from this summer they will even grow their own fruits and vegetables on the roof of the building. Tasty treats that are also pro-planet – what more could you want?
