Coffee Week Berlin is back for the second time! Founded by Communal Coffee and Cee Cee, this festival is for coffee lovers and professionals alike. With over 90 events citywide, the schedule is packed and full of variety. To kick things off, we recommend the official opening (RSVP here), which takes place Monday at the brand-new AchtBerlin event space. From there, the choices are endless: cupping, cupping, cupping — with whoever and wherever you want. The lineup is impressive, so grab your spoons and dive in! Check out 19grams’ event with BWT Water+More for a deep dive into how water impacts coffee (RSVP here). Feeling creative? There are Latte Art workshops for all skill levels. How about the “Home Barista Class” at Five Elephant in collab with Sage? (RSVP here.) If you’re in the mood to learn about coffee origins, Roaster Tesfaldet Tecle is taking you on a journey through Ethiopia’s rich coffee history at Kaffeekirsche (RSVP here). Want more? Join the Fjord Coffee Roasters crew at Sorrel for the “Acid Test” on Wednesday (RSVP here).

Or, attend a sensory class at Röststätte, led by Brewers Cup runner-up June Simon, featuring interactive exercises (RSVP here). For the visually curious, check out microscopic coffee images at Firstcrack Roasters (RSVP here). Ready to get active? On Tuesday, join La Marzocco and Coffee Circle for a “Community Ride,” biking from Neukölln to the west side, finishing at Coffee Circle’s location with discussions about bikes, beans and good times (RSVP here). You’ll also find community vibes at the Run’n’Rave event, hosted by Run’n’Rave, Oatly and August 63. Daytime partying is the new thing — perfect for kicking off your holiday. Friday rolls in with a party vibe, with Refuge Worldwide DJs at Promenadeneck for the Minor Figures Clock-Off (RSVP here). And on Saturday (05.10), we’ll wind down the week with the Coffee Week Berlin Closing Event — because why stop there?

SHARE A COFFEE WITH NEIGHBORS: NANO KAFFEE X CEE CEE OPEN HOUSE ON WEDNESDAY

SHARE A COFFEE WITH NEIGHBORS: NANO KAFFEE X CEE CEE OPEN HOUSE ON WEDNESDAY

You’re invited! That much is for sure. Now, let’s not forget the details: this Wednesday, we’re hosting our very own eventas part of Coffee Week Berlin (among many other highlights!). We’ve teamed up with our neighbors — since the start of the year, Ramin and his stylish Nano Kaffee Roastery have set up shop right next door. If you’re curious about seeing coffee roasted live, here’s your chance! Afterward (and throughout the event), you’ll get to sample all their coffee varieties. There’s also something sweet to snack on: delicious choux from Paskal. Later in the day, there’s pizza from the Vulgar Pizza Ambassadors and wine from Nature’s Calling. Our friends at Brlo were kind enough to drop off some beer, too — the after-work and pre-holiday vibes will be in full swing. We at Cee Cee will be bringing our Cee Cee Cups. You can check them out, feel them in your hands, and take one home if you like. Oh, and since collaborating is always fun, we’ve launched a limited edition of the Cee Cee Coffee — roasted, of course, by Nano Kaffee. You might even get lucky and win something in our giveaway! But one thing’s for sure, the Cee Cee and Nano teams will be there, and we can’t wait to see you.

BERLIN MARATHON TURNS 50: A WEEK OF CELEBRATIONS — RECOMMENDED BY ALFREDO MEJIA

BERLIN MARATHON TURNS 50: A WEEK OF CELEBRATIONS — RECOMMENDED BY ALFREDO MEJIA

Known for record-smashing feats and its iconic finish at the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Marathon is the city’s official autumn kickoff. From its early days in the Grunewald forest to becoming one of the world’s top six marathons alongside Tokyo, London, New York, Chicago, and Boston, this legendary race is now celebrating its 50th anniversary — and it’s set to be unforgettable. This milestone event will draw a vibrant crowd from across the global running community, including personalities like Kofuzi and the Believe in the Run crew, along with independent brands, running clubs, and more. With around 50,000 runners gearing up to tackle the 42K route on Sunday, the city is already buzzing with excitement. To mark the occasion, the organizers have set up a special space next to the Brandenburg Gate, hosting daily activities such as live music, panel talks, and exhibitions. But as with any great festival, the real highlights are often found in the build-up. Whether you’re racing, cheering, or just curious, here’s your guide to the must-see pre-marathon events (check out the infobox below).

FASHION, OYSTERS & OFFBEAT MUSIC — YOUR BERLIN AGENDA FOR THE COMING DAYS

FASHION, OYSTERS & OFFBEAT MUSIC — YOUR BERLIN AGENDA FOR THE COMING DAYS

Autumn is here, but that doesn’t mean you have to hole up at home. On the contrary — plenty is going on outside and Berlin is showing us that even the cooler days can be hot. From 25.-28.09.2024, you can visit The Room Antwerp‘s pop-up at the Circle Culture gallery. The Belgian brand, known for its timeless designs with a unique twist, does away with seasonal collections so their pieces remain relevant for years. On Thursday and Friday, Aeris Cocktails and Herrlich Dining are hosting a pop-up dinner at Casa Camper. The minimalist, elegant ambiance with its large windows offers the perfect atmosphere for a casual dinner. Herrlich Dining, known for creative, informal dining experiences, combines fresh and regional ingredients to create a special menu, accompanied by drinks from Aeris. In another part of the city, things are getting critical. Berlin’s increasing pressure on space is undeniable, and the group exhibition “Under Pressure” explores just that. It presents perspectives on space, architecture and urban politics. The artists and architects of Adalbert Neun address displacement and the transformation of urban space.

The vernissage starts on Friday (27.09.) at 19h. If you want to make the most of the weekend, this Friday, Volk will be offering seafood and live music from Das Alien Quartett. With their unusual mix of freak jazz, anti-folk and deep blues, the band creates a special vibe that will transport you to Paris. Then, Thai Noods is back with a new pop-up, this time, very different from what the name suggests: without Noods on the menu. Instead, you can expect Thai bites that pair perfectly with autumn, and natural wine — served in the cozy The Rad. The bar is small and fills up quickly, so reserve a seat! And then the weekend is over, but the week also has a lot in store. Next Monday (30.09.) is the vernissage of the exhibition “The Song Nobody Knows” at Backhaus Projects. The creative space offers local and international artists the opportunity to realize their visions. Artist Anna Lea Schmitt will be exhibiting her ceramic sculptures, which combine the beautiful with the grotesque and reinterpret siren myths from a feminist perspective. The vernissage will also be accompanied by a vocal performance. And of course we highly recommend the diverse Coffee Week program.

TRANSFORMATION AGENDA — JUMPSTARTING A PROGRESSIVE FUTURE AT RECAMPAIGN CONFERENCE

TRANSFORMATION AGENDA — JUMPSTARTING A PROGRESSIVE FUTURE AT RECAMPAIGN CONFERENCE

From deepfakes and algorithms to ransomware and radicalization, you’ve probably heard of how tech is making things worse. Yet when used correctly, digital tools can help jump start a more progressive future – or so the organizers of reCampaign hope. The two-day conference at Silent Green is inviting over 300 activists, thinkers and data heads to present new ways of rebooting society (20 & 21.09.2024). Under the banner “Progressive Alliances”, the program includes workshops, round tables and labs, including the “TikTok Campaigning School”, a session for learning how to leverage the platform’s algorithms to spread messages and engage audiences (20.09).

Over at the podium is the round table discussion “The Playbook of Authoritarian Regimes”, exploring how autocratic governments manipulate the media to entrench their power and divide society – and how independent journalism can fight back (20.09). Just as relevant is “Artificial Intelligence for Everyone”, a group session run by the Wikimedia foundation that explores the technologies, opportunities, and ethical limits of AI in real-world applications (21.09). Check out the full program and buy a ticket here.
