If like us, you’re determined to keep your urban greenhouse (read: living room) flourishing throughout winter, Salon am Moritzplatz is where you’ll want to be this Friday, Saturday or Sunday, (26.-28.10.2018), 10h sharp. That’s where you’ll find 1000 fairly-priced plants, plus a selection of terracotta pots, baskets and specially-designed tins to keep your new green darlings hydrated and happy in. That’s thanks to Bergamotte — the French botanic atelier has spent the autumn touring Germany, offering up a lush selection of greenery — from monsteras and palms to aloe vera and cacti — to plant lovers and their apartments all over the country. Now they’re in the capital, get in early with your own XXL carry solution — in honor of the environment, Bergamotte is bag-free. P.S. This is just the beginning — from spring 2019, Bergamotte will launch its German online store — meaning plants sent fresh to your door. Sign up to be the first to know when it’s happening. NEW FLAVORS, NEW SKILLS — GET HANDS-ON AT STADT LAND FOOD

NEW FLAVORS, NEW SKILLS — GET HANDS-ON AT STADT LAND FOOD

Sour beer tastings, fish smoking, butter churning — whatever food fad you’re into at the moment, you’ll find a community and a DIY outlet for it this weekend at Stadt Land Food, hosted by Markthalle Neun together with the who’s who of the Berlin food scene. Guided by the slogan “Good Food for All” and focusing on the connection between ethical farming and ethical food, this year’s edition of the festival, on this weekend, will see the beloved market hall spill out onto Lausitzer Platz and beyond with street food from local vendors, and a special edition farmer’s market featuring 150 producers from around Europe — from Sicilian almonds to Portuguese sardines. And then there are the talks, demonstrations and workshops. Ever wanted to learn how to make your own cheesehoney or pickled vegetables? Or improve your tasting notes when sampling coffee or Pet Nat? Come hungry — you’ll be leaving anything but. (Text: Anna Dorothea Ker / Photos: Markthalle Neun)

P.S. We’re giving away a double pass to the wild oyster shucking workshop on Sunday (in English). Drop us a notesaying why you should be there to win them!

New fall season, new art season. We hope you have your favorite sneakers, gallery hopping gang and recovery supplies at the ready, because this year’s Berlin Art Week is a hot and plentiful one. As well as the city’s major fair for modern and contemporary art, Art Berlin at Flughafen Tempelhof, and the second edition of Räume, a diverse group show set in an abandoned iron foundry in Reinickendorf, we’re particularly excited about two sets of exhibitions in particular. Today (27.9.2018) video works are where it’s at: start at Julia Stoschek Collection for KW Institute for Contemporary Art’s new artistic collaboration series, which presents two intriguing works: Beatrice Gibson’s “I Hope I’m Loud When I’m Dead” and Jamie Crew’s “Pastoral Drama” (19h). Then make your way to Hamburger Bahnhof to experience Agnieszka Polska’s “The Demon’s Brain“, which won the prestigious Preis der Nationalgalerie 2017 (20h). On Saturday (29.9.2018) head to KINDL – Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst for the opening of “Routinised Absurdity”, a group photography show featuring striking works by ascendant artists like Brooke DiDonato and Ben Zank. Then go north to Gropius Bau, where revered South Korean artist Lee Bul’s first solo show in Germany, “Crash“, will offer an enthralling multi-sensory experience laden with sensuality, humor, and futuristic visions. In case all this leaves you craving more, check out this year’s tours guided by the curators of select project spaces. Themes include “Books and Beer” (29.9.2018, 15-17.30h) and “Fake Fur and Cake” (30.9.2018, 14-16.30h) Ready for it? See you en route! VINICULTURE POP-UP DINNER WITH RISING STAR VADIM OTTO URSUS

VINICULTURE POP-UP DINNER WITH RISING STAR VADIM OTTO URSUS

Got plans for next Monday evening (24.9.2018) yet? How about being wined and dined by two experts in their respective fields? You may be familiar with Viniculture as a longstanding purveyor of exceptional wines to restaurants, bars and events across the city. Now Holger Schwarz, the powerhouse behind the company, is launching his own pop-up dinner series — starting strong in partnership with ascendant young chef Vadim Otto Ursus. Having worked at the crème de la crème of restaurants around the world — from Noma in Mexico to Maaemo in Oslo and Koks on the Faroe Islands — Otto Ursus’ fermentation-focussed creations bridge the gap between food and art. Currently, he is developing an experimental kitchen at the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve, just north of Berlin — and your chance to experience his culinary magic arises on Monday 24.9.2018 from 19h at Wagner Bistro. Five courses, paired with five wines from Viniculture, plus an aperitif and water, will be presented over the course of the evening. We can’t think of a stronger start to the week. Secure your ticket here and scroll through Otto Ursus’ Instagram to get your mouth watering. (Text: Anna Dorothea Ker / Photos (clockwise): Luke Marshall Johnson, Vadim Otto Ursus)
