CROCODILE MEETS COUTURE: JULIAN ZIGERLI X ANDI FISCHER BREAK BOUNDARIES WITH HUMOR

CROCODILE MEETS COUTURE: JULIAN ZIGERLI X ANDI FISCHER BREAK BOUNDARIES WITH HUMOR

A twisted crocodile, a friendly tiger, a silly raven, and a spotted goat quickly win everyone’s hearts. It’s not just Berliners who have long been captivated by Andi Fischer‘s scribbled paintings (which you can now wear). This spring, Swiss label Julian Zigerli collaborated with the artist to release a new collection. Designer Julian Zigerli often works in collaboration; it’s part of his creative process and the label’s DNA. “It’s just more fun that way,” he says, and fun is very important to him. As is irony, love, and humor. The collection certainly has all that in spades. In addition to the already charming motifs, which are embroidered, knitted, or printed, there’s wit in every detail. There are reversible motifs that, entire suits with childlike embroidery patterns, a knitted star hat, and funny underwear.

And, refreshingly, there aren’t separate collections for women and men. Julian and Andi developed the motifs and their design together, starting with the tiger. The pieces were then photographed in Andi’s studio, and the entire creative process was a close collaboration, right down to the Santa Claus-like stage design and styling of the models on the catwalk. “The Limit Does Not Exist” is the title of the collection, a nod to Mean Girls and a tribute to breaking down boundaries. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it addresses exactly the right topics. And we can all learn a thing or two from that, or simply wear it in the future.

HARDT OPENS A SECOND STORE IN MITTE — DESIGNER-SECOND-HAND WITH CLASS & ATTITUDE

HARDT OPENS A SECOND STORE IN MITTE — DESIGNER-SECOND-HAND WITH CLASS & ATTITUDE

What began with the first location in Kreuzberg is now continuing a few kilometers further north. Hardt has opened its second store. Located in Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße, just a stone’s throw from the Volksbühne, find curated designer second-hand. Behind the concept are siblings Mira and Malte Hardt, who decided to take a more sustainable approach to fashion, one that preserves what already exists rather than producing something new. Since then, Hardt has offered a conscious selection of high-fashion pieces, characterized by quality and timelessness — Prada, Margiela, Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake, to name a few. The new store reflects timelessness and good-quality materials with stainless steel, clear lines, and plenty of space for the essentials. If you would like to join in the celebrations for this new chapter, Hardt is hosting an opening party tonight (17.07.2025) from 6 to 10 p.m. with music, drinks, and pieces that will leave an impression.

OH SO SMOOTH: WHY TYLKO’S NEW SOFA LIVES UP TO ITS NAME

OH SO SMOOTH: WHY TYLKO’S NEW SOFA LIVES UP TO ITS NAME

Half of Berlin’s apartments are home to one of Tylko’s modular shelving systems. Whether it’s a sideboard, shoe rack or dressing table – their furniture fits snugly and affordably into every Altbau niche and prefab hallway. Everyone loves Tylko – and now, there might be another reason why. Because the Polish furniture brand is expanding its portfolio to include soft seating: introducing the Smooth Sofa, which is launching this week at the Klub Maison pop-up. It was designed in collaboration with industrial designer Krystian Kowalski, who is known for his clean lines and functional elegance. And it is – what else would you expect – modular, of course. True to Tylko’s signature approach, the Smooth Sofa can be fully configured online (it’s a Smooth Generator). For compact studios where full living landscapes are too much, there are standalone pieces. And when your home – or household – grows, Smooth grows with you: just add the modules you need. Choosing a couch is no small decision – the average Berliner doesn’t shop for a new one every few months. And the last thing you want is for this year’s color or fabric choice to feel outdated next year. To help you avoid the guesswork, Tylko invites you to try it out in person – by test-lounging, -stretching or -sprawling to your heart’s content. Head to Wedding and Klub Maison, which will transform into a walk-in comfort zone tomorrow (04.07.2025). And see for yourself what good design actually feels like. No pressure, no appointment – just plenty of chances to discover whether this might just be the last sofa you’ll ever need – in the best possible way.

MAYPOP — A REFRESHING APPROACH TO FLORISTRY

MAYPOP — A REFRESHING APPROACH TO FLORISTRY

If you were a bouquet, what would you look like? Extravagant, minimal or cute? What comes to mind when you’re searching for the perfect bouquet? The options are endless across Berlin, and for someone like me, it can be overwhelming to come up with ideas, know what you’re looking for, or make a decision. I’m a sucker for sunflowers and usually opt for the simple classic when I treat myself to blooms. Maypop has changed my tune, showing me the magic that transpires when I trust the florist and am open to experimentation. Watching Kati create a bouquet using her intuition was awe-inspiring, and it all starts with the flower selection. After I was drawn in from her street display, I stepped into her shop and immediately noticed the exclusive flower selection. The first word that came to mind was “wild”, a contemporary approach that evoked nostalgia for the wildflowers of my hometown. This is what immediately set Maypop Flowers apart and made me feel that I had a personal connection to the vision.

The flowers are carefully selected and curated by Kati, imported from local markets and other countries, such as the Netherlands. Her selection and sources are always changing, which adds to the excitement of what the next curation might bring. They can be limited and relatively minimal, but that’s what makes them so special. Kati’s sole drive is to avoid over-stocking and creating waste, ensuring every flower finds a home. Maypop offers a sustainable variety. It’s important that each customer has a bouquet or installation that is their own. Unique and customized results are what you’ll get. As we all know, flowers can be pricey, which is why a variety of price categories and arrangements to suit every need are available. Whether it’s a bouquet for a special occasion, something for home, or a larger installation for an event, chat with Kati about your vision and let her do what she does best and create a refreshing array of flowers.

CLEAR SHAPES: A NEWLY DESIGNED SPACE FOR JOHANNA GAUDERS COLLECTION #8

CLEAR SHAPES: A NEWLY DESIGNED SPACE FOR JOHANNA GAUDERS COLLECTION #8

Ten years, eight collections, and a space that connects it all. With Collection #8, designer Johanna Gauder is not only celebrating the 10th anniversary of her eponymous jewelry label but also the reopening of her studio in Neukölln in February 2025, designed in collaboration with Christoph Hauf. The design: a symbiosis of jewelry and furniture design, of materials in their raw form, of precise craftsmanship and clear aesthetics. Gauder’s new collection is an echo of this space: 17 pieces of jewelry translate architectural lines into wearable forms – graphical, geometrical, restrained. Even after ten years, Johanna is open to new ideas without forgetting her design language. For the first time, she is working with pavé-set diamonds, set in recycled silver and gold. You can find the collection online, but it’s worth a visit: aluminum, glass, linoleum, Douglas fir wood, no lacquers, no finishes. Instead, the new surfaces are allowed to take on a patina — to bear the marks of everyday life. “I didn’t want a space that simply exhibits, but one that evolves,” says Johanna. An idea that is also continued in the collection. The newly designed studio on Schillerpromenade is not only a place for presentation and sales, but also for meetings and exchanges. Conversations, then ideas, then designs are created at the large table. It’s always about sustainable design with attitude – in form, material, and content.
